Metalhead and Splinter
now and then
man, i love that i have these… i should do pics of the turtles themselves too, since i have them all
I have a love/hate relationship with the new line of Ninja Turtles figures.
The actual green guys are just astounding. I never paid more than $9 for one, and, honestly, in terms of sculpt, articulation, accessories, and just all around construction, all four are top notch. Frankly, they probably warrant more than $10 apiece due solely to quality.
To offset the costs, though, Playmates really cut corners on the other figures from wave 1. (I can’t speak to subsequent waves.) Aside from the turtles, the only other figure I bought from the line was Shredder. They really dropped the ball on that one. Between his comically undersides katana, the snap on armor bits that aren’t actually removable, and the dreadful amount of articulation, it’s just not worth the price tag.
How’s the articulation on Metalhead? Is it on par with the green guys?
I don’t think ANY will be on par with the four mains! But of the others so far, he seems to have the best. His legs and head have Turtle-style motion, but his arms go up and down at the shoulder and turn at the elbow. His right arm is a “rocket,” and it’s not even spring loaded - you push the projectile from the back. But I think it’s quality, definitely worth the $8 I paid!
